Is there an all-in-one web hosting, ecommerce, email marketing w/ metrics plus CMS solution?
Question by diamondgirl: Is there an all-in-one web hosting, ecommerce, email marketing w/ metrics plus CMS solution?
Must meet ALL criteria, built-in. Need WYSISYG editor and/or user-friendly, non-coding content development and management. It’s for small business so price is a consideration.
Also to not be restricted to template use is a huge plus.

In a word, no, unless you consider a consultant a solution. You’re not going to create a business site worth having without coding it, and without knowing what you’re doing (how do you keep people from breaking into your site, maybe using SQL injection, and stealing your entire database – including all your customers’ credit card information – which will make you financially liable for any and all losses all of them suffer).
You’ll have to spend either money (to hire someone to do it) or time (to learn to do it yourself), or you’ll be spending money defending your business in court (and losing) and you won’t be getting much business because the site is designed all wrong, and you’re on page 35,000 on a Google search for what you sell.

What open source ecommerce platform has the best bulk product import feature?
Question by Ryan W: What open source ecommerce platform has the best bulk product import feature?
I am a large dropshipper with 50k+ products and I’m sick of the hosted platforms (yahoo stores, big commerce, volusion, etc) and want to move to my own server with one of the open source ecommerce platforms. I have looked through them all but can’t find any information on which one has the feature or how well it works.

Hi,
Product import feature is there in almost all open source platforms but the most robust will be with Magento or even Drupal, which you can also use as an ecom platform

What ecommerce solution to use for 1000 products?
Question by linder: What ecommerce solution to use for 1000 products?
I am a web designer / developer that has always created standard html sites. I will soon need to create my first site that also contains a shopping cart. What ecommerce solution do you recommend for approx. 1000 products that they will sell? I’m assuming that this will probably end up being database driven based on the volume. I’m not sure how I made it all of these years without doing an ecommerce site. Any advice would be great.

Im building an ecommerce site. Can I build a site with a shopping cart or do I need to buy a merchant gateway?
Question by CPARMG: Im building an ecommerce site. Can I build a site with a shopping cart or do I need to buy a merchant gateway?
I am building a ecommerce site and am wondering if I can add a shopping cart into build or do I need to buy a merchant gateway seperately?
Best answer:
Answer by snow_skimmer
you need both.
the shopping cart will have all the code you need to store, display and handle the customer login, ordering and shipping details.
you will need a merchant gateway to process the credit cards for you.
be sure you gateway company can use the shopping cart software and vice versa, that the shopping cart supports transactions to your merchant account.
this can be as cheap and simple as using paypal or as pricey as authorize.net
don’t forget to get an ssl certificate and get certified. without encryption, a gateway will refuse to talk to your site.

Get rid of front page its a terrible program. If you need WYSIWYG then use Dream Weaver if not use any text editor to edit html css php etc. for a good cms for ecommerce i suggest zencart.
read this article on how to install it on your web server http://tutorials.zen-cart.com/index.php?article=107

Q&A: What do you think of Magento for ecommerce?
Question by Deepee: What do you think of Magento for ecommerce?
My company currently only has a very basic online retail website, and we would like to redevelop this to boost our online sales. We are a small-mid sized re-distributor for various manufacturers, and currently handle the vast majority of our orders via phone/fax.
We need a customizable Ecommerce platform that will allow us to create a very functional website with a lot of personalization for the users . We are in a unique niche, and our users require some non-standard features & ordering processes that we would need built into the site.
I am looking into various solutions. Ideally, we would like a system that offers CRM, accounting, inventory, POS integration, and other enterprise management tools.
I’ved looked into Oracle, but frankly, it all confuses the hell out of me. They offer so many products/solutions, i’m not sure if this is even what we need.
As a redistributor we only currently carry a small inventory of product. Generally we receive orders, put in an order to the manufacturer, receive the product, and then ship it almost immediately. However, as our online business grows, eventually we’ll expand our inventory to hold products we find are most desired through sales analysis/metrics.
I came across a program called Magento that seems interesting…its an open source ecommerce platform.
Have you used Magento? Does it sound like something that could be useful for my needs? How easy is it to add customized features/functionality? Is it worth the price?

Am doing an evaluation this very moment with Magento for a basic e-commerce website. I will copypaste the section on Magento that might help you.:
Main Highlights
• Multi Currency and Multi Language Support
• Unlimited categories and sub
• Digital Download Product Support
• Discount Voucher Support
• Add-On support for extra features
• Better templating system than OsCommerce
• Support for the following payment gateways:
o Authorize.net (AIM and SIM)
o PayPal Website Payments Standard (IPN)
o PayPal Express Checkout
o PayPal Website Payments Pro
o LinkPoint
o YourPay
Pros: Much more advanced than other
systems. Free to install and use anywhere.
source system .
Cons: less features than Jshop, due to its offering could be difficult to use and its loading time
has been reported to be slow in comparison to other eCommerce systems
